Kirkwood Grad Interns With Former White House Chef

The Pioneer found his calling through the school's ATLAS program.

Thanks to the a alternative education program, one recent graduate is well on his way to a bright career in the profession he loves.

While at KHS, Brody Kampshroeder participated in the Alternatives Towards Learning and Success (ATLAS) program and attended South County Tech’s Culinary Arts program.

Kampshroeder graduated in May after completing the Culinary Arts program at and is now participating in a three-year internship under renowned Chef Pierre Chambrin, who is a former White House chef to the George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton administrations.

For his internship, Kampshroeder works six days a week at Saint Louis Club, honing his skills in a variety of areas. He reports that he loves every aspect of the job.

"Every day is different," Kampshroeder said. "Usually they put me in a different station daily. I get to jump in and learn on the go."

At the end of his internship, Kampshroeder is guaranteed a job in either New York or California.

The former Pioneer is one of the great success stories of the ATLAS program, the says. 

"I'm excited about the future," Kampschroeder said. "Who doesn't love good food, coffee and music."
