Kirkwood High Will Get Building Improvements

The Kirkwood School Board approved plans this week for enhancement projects at the high school.

The Kirkwood School District Board of Education approved plans this week to issue bonds for improvement projects at Kirkwood High School, according to an STL Today report.

Earlier this year, the board tabled a KHS stadium project that was estimated to cost $2.4 million. The most recent approval is totaled at $4 million and includes enhancements to high school band and journalism departments as well as the stadium.

The STL Today report said the district opted to refinance 20-year leasehold revenue bonds. The decision, which passed 6-1, came in part to the belief that taxpayers would not have any additional strain to complete the projects.

The report added that all three projects are scheduled for completion by August 2014.

What do you think? Are you for or against the projects? Do you have students who would make direct use of the stadium, band and journalism department improvements? Tell us in the comments.
