Kirkwood School District Announces Principal for Tillman Elementary

Dr. Tom Williams, superintendent of schools, will recommend the appointment of Lisa Greenstein as principal of Tillman Elementary School effective July 1, to the Kirkwood Board of Education on March 14. Greenstein succeeds Tillman Principal Chris Raeker who has been named the district’s assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

An educator for 25 years, Greenstein currently serves as principal of Ross Elementary School in the Parkway School District. The second teaching position of her career was in the Kirkwood School District where she taught first-grade and fifth-grade at North Glendale Elementary School from 1988 through 1991.

She taught elementary school in the Ladue School District where she also served as a parent educator. Greenstein served as a parent educator for Parkway and joined the district in 2001 as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher at Ross Elementary. She served as an administrative intern for Parkway before becoming a principal in 2007.

Greenstein, who will complete her doctorate in education from Maryville University in May, holds two master’s degrees from the University of Missouri-St. Louis: one in elementary administration and one in elementary education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University in Bloomington.

According to Williams, superintendent of schools, the selection of the new Tillman principal was a collaborative process that involved students, parents, staff and administrators.

“We interviewed many outstanding candidates for the Tillman principal position, and the interview committee members agreed that Lisa Greenstein has the experience and qualities that will provide Tillman School with a strong, positive instructional leader,” Williams said. “We are pleased to welcome her back into the Kirkwood School District family.”
