Kirkwood Transfer Students Info Meeting Tuesday

An informational meeting regarding transferring students from unaccredited districts to Kirkwood is scheduled for Tuesday night.

The Kirkwood School District is hosting an informational meeting about students transferring from unaccredited districts Tuesday.

The meeting, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kirkwood High School, is open to Kirkwood families and is set to follow a previously scheduled tour of the facility that starts at 6:30 p.m.

Kirkwood was chosen by Riverview Gardens last week as a second option for students who wish to transfer from Riverview to an accredited school district. Mehlville School District was previously named by Riverview. Riverview said they would provide transportation for students to Kirkwood schools, but Kirkwood evaluated they would only have space for an additional 175 transfers.

Transfer applications closed Aug. 1 and the Cooperating School District was under task with placing roughly 2,600 students who applied for a transfer from Normandy and Riverview Gardens.

As of Monday afternoon, Kirkwood School District has not yet provided specific numbers by grade of transferring students.

What do you think? Will you attend the meeting Tuesday? What questions do you have about the transfer process/impact? Tell us in the comments.
