Pioneers' Track and Field Team Third Best in State

The Kirkwood High School girls' team placed in several categories at state competition.

On May 25-26, the  girl’s Track and Field team placed third in the Missouri State High School Activities Association track meet on at Dwight D. Stadium on the Lincoln University campus in Jefferson City.

In addition to finishing third in state, the following students received individual all-state honors:

  • First place finish in long jump Senior Mike McHugh with a jump of 22' 6"
  • Fifth place finish in 1600m run Senior Hannah Richardson
  • Fourth place finish in Discus by Senior Kayla Gutierrez throwing her personal best of 131'09
  • Third place finish for the 4x800m relay team: Senior Libby Luciani, Senior Lianna Doty, Sophomore Megan Hellwege, Senior Hannah Richardson
  • Sixth place Senior Amber Solomon in 100m high hurdles
  • Second place in 400m dash by Junior Elisa Steele
  • Second place in 300 hurdles by senior Bria McWoods with 0.01 difference between first and second (a photo finish). New KHS record.
  • Seventh place in 4x400 relay by Freshman Jocelyn Payne, Senior Lianna Doty, Sophomore Megan Hellwege, Junior Elisa Steele
