Project IDEA Breaks Ground

Keysor Elementary School will break ground on the school's progressive playground Tuesday.

In the spirit of Project IDEA as a resource for all of Kirkwood, is inviting the community to a groundbreaking ceremony for the playground Tuesday evening.

The ceremony is at 6 p.m. with a family picnic at 5:30 p.m. Project IDEA T-shirts,  Keysor spirit gear and a limited supply of tiny shovels will be available for purchase.

The playground, originally conceived as an inclusive play-space, evolved into a state-of-the-art facility.

“We realized that we wanted people of all ages and ability levels to interact with it and be out there on their own,” Brandie Martine, project IDEA coordinator, told Kirkwood Patch in March. “This is very much about the community.”

The community has rallied behind the $400,000-plus playground through various fundraising campaigns. Phase I construction is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
