Project IDEA Launches at Kirkwood's Keysor Elementary

After four years from concept to reality, the project opened as a community outdoor space this week.

After a year in the making and four years since IDEA was just an idea, Keysor Elementary's Project IDEA inclusive outdoor space is now open to the community.

Project IDEA -- standing for Imagination, Discovery, Exploration and Adventure -- was envisioned as an outdoor space with an inclusive environment for the community, according to a release from the Kirkwood School District. Opportunities for education beyond the classroom and a space for everyone to spend time outdoors were behind the concepts for a walking path, ampitheater, gardening areas and garden lab space, the release added.

Kirkwood Mayor Arthur McDonnell, State Rep. Rick Stream and Kirkwood Board of Education members all made a special visit to Keysor for the dedication ceremony Tuesday evening. Food trucks, a Keysor choir performance and a bubble lift-off also highlighted the ceremony.
