School Lunch Menu for Kirkwood Elementary Students
Local produce items are nectarines, peaches, tomatoes, okra, zucchini and watermelon.
Kirkwood students continue to see healthy school lunch menus with new national nutritional standards implemented by Chartwells Food Service, the company that serves the .
Some highlights of national nutritional standards that took effect this year but were adopted by Chartwells last year are:
- food based menu planning only,
- new grade groups (K-5, 6-8, 9-12),
- minimum and maximum requirements for calories and grains, and
- fruits and vegetables serving as two separate components.
