School Playground Closed After Worker Drops Bottle of Pills

A daycare worker accidentally dropped a medicine bottle in the play area at a Kirkwood school, KMOV reports.

A playground at the Kirkwood School District's Early Childhood Center is closed after a worker accidentally dropped a bottle of prescription pills and children were discovered playing with it, according to a KMOV report Wednesday.

The report said the employee is on administrative leave for violating school policies regarding medicine containers.

Kirkwood School District Superintendent Dr. Tom Williams said in the report that they were uncertain what pills were in the container. The district does not believe the children, aged between three and five years old, ingested any of the pills, based on interviews and review of video on the playground. Parents were notified of the incident through a phone recording from the district.

Williams added that policies would be reviewed with employees to avoid similar incidents in the future. The playground is closed until all of the medicine can be accounted for.
