Fifty high schools from around the United States will be competing for the title when the championships are held in St. Louis starting Feb. 27.

Kirkwood High School's, Ursuline Academy's and St. John Vianney High's racquetball club athletes are among three of 15 St. Louis area high school teams who will compete in the 2013 USA Racquetball High School National Championships in St. Louis Feb. 27-March 3. The event is hosted by the Missouri High School Racquetball Association and USA Racquetball.

Held at both the Missouri Athletic Club West and Vetta Sports Concord, nearly 400 high school racquetball players from around the nation will converge on St. Louis to compete for the gold.

The Missouri High School Racquetball Association League consists of nearly 500 players from 20 different St. Louis high schools, said Dan Whitley, racquetball director at Vetta Sports Clubs. He said the top players from these area teams will be representing Missouri in the USA Racquetball High School National Championships.

St. Louis University High School has won the Boys’ National Team title in both 2011 and 2012. Cor Jesu Academy won the Girls’ title in both years as well.  The two schools both will be trying for the “three-peat."
