What's Next for Kirkwood High's Lyons Stadium?

The Kirkwood Board of Education has the stadium project up again on tonight's meeting agenda.

Kirkwood High School's Lyons Stadium renovation plans are on the agenda again for the Kirkwood Board of Education meeting April 1.

The Board has been considering plans to revamp bleachers, add restrooms and concessions, and make Lyons Stadium ADA-compliant. After approving the $2.4 million project last December, the Board was "disappointed" with the bid responses and acted to table at the March meeting.

This month, after reviewing the bids and noting none made the budget mark, the Board met with engineers and architects to attempt to tweak the project in order to come in less than the budget. The agenda says, even with the efforts to reduce costs, "these changes were not enough to bring the project within budget."

The agenda adds that the Chief Financial Officer will recommend to reject all of the bid proposals.
