Hiking The Appalachian Trail

The Appalachian Trail is a continuous footpath that runs from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine. It's the grandfather of long distance hiking trails, stretching 2,178 miles and takes about 6 months to hike end to end. About 1,500 backpackers attempt to complete the entire trail each year, but only about three hundred succeed. These adventurers are known as thru-hikers and Alpine Shop's very own employee, Amy Erskine, will present on her experience thru-hiking the "AT" as a solo female in 2009. Topics covered will include: what lead to her thru-hike, the preparation involved, gear used, and stories and a slide show depicting the good and bad times had from Georgia to Maine. Q & A will follow

Participants will receive a $5 store coupon.
