Nerinx's Quigley, Chaney Take State Titles in Jeff City; Kirkwood, Webster Make Impact

Nerinx Hall finishes third in the Class 4 girls state track meet. Kirkwood and Webster Groves also see success in Class 3 and 4.

Several area athletes and teams participated in the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Track and Field Championships in Jefferson City last Friday and Saturday. Here are some area highlights:

The Nerinx Hall girls finished third overall in Class 4 with 42 points out of 18 total events. Lee’s Summit North was first with 58 points, followed by lee’s Summit West at 47 points.

Nerinx senior Colleen Quigley won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:27.62. Quigley also won the 1,600 in 4:52.17.

Nerinx junior Peyton Chaney won the 200 with a time of 24.54. Chaney finished second in the 100 at 11.94. She also placed fifth in the 400 in 57.76.

Kirkwood senior Quincy Sharp placed seventh in the Class 4 100-meter dash with a time of 11:20.

The Kirkwood boys finished sixth (1:29.42)in the 800 relay, which included junior Rashid Pullem, junior Charvae Roddy, Sharp, freshman Eric McWoods, freshman Tyler Currie and junior Cameron Williams.

The Kirkwood boys finished eighth in the 400 relay with a time of 44.06. The team included freshman Eric Phillips, Pullem, Roddy and Sharp.

Sharp also finished sixth in the 200 with a time of 22.51.

Webster Groves senior Jamar Ashford finished eighth in the 100 at 11.28.

Webster Groves junior LaJuan Moye placed third in the high jump with a leap of 6-0.
