Giving Tuesday Gives Familes the Opportunity to Teach Kids about Philanthropy

The Magic House kicks off its holiday giving plan on Giving Tuesday. Learn how you can help families in need with a special donation this holiday season.

First Black Friday, then Small Business Saturday, followed by Cyber Monday – what’s next!?  Giving Tuesday!

Although not quite as well know, this year a national campaign officially named the Tuesday after Thanksgiving as Giving Tuesday to signify the beginning of the giving season.  Several organizations participated in Giving Tuesday this week, including The Magic House, encouraging families to raise awareness and charitable giving this time of year.  Perhaps it is because I work for a not-for-profit organization and I see day in and day out the hard work and heart that goes into a group whose goal isn’t necessarily to fill a bottom line but to achieve a real mission, but I love this new concept!  This is a day not about shopping for things but a day that gives us an opportunity to have a conversation with our kids about the importance of philanthropy and helping others. While I’m sure we won’t see people with tents camped outside our doors the night before Giving Tuesday to donate money, I do hope that this day continues to grow in momentum each year!

This year The Magic House kicked off our holiday giving campaign on Giving  Tuesday to raise the funds to cover the membership fees of 100 needy families so that they can experience the joy and magic of hands-on learning year long.  Don’t worry if you missed giving on Tuesday, our campaign lasts all holiday season (really all year if you are up for it!).  To find more information about our holiday giving campaign, or to make a donation, visit on our website here:

Did you celebrate Giving Tuesday this year?  Did you use this as an opportunity to talk to your family about the importance of giving back?

Have you got a picture of what you're talking about? Not to be crude, but it'd illustrate what yourRead More concern is. What is it exactly? A sign for a business?

It is an illustrated nursing bra, but with one of the sides down, revealing a stylized, butRead More anatomically correct, breast. I agree it's a little much.
