Roxie and Doc Need Forever Homes

Meet these two loving senior dogs at the Kirkwood Petco this weekend.

Meet Roxie

Roxie is a 9-year-old mini dachshund available for adoption through the St. Louis Senior Dog Project.

Roxie was found as a stray by a local animal control, and due to her age she was considered a hard to place dog. The St. Louis Senior Dog Project rescued her on Christmas Eve giving this little gal a second chance. Roxie is a very affectionate dog that enjoys to be cuddled and loves getting attention.

On the day she arrived to her foster home she took the time to inspect each and every one of the dog beds until she found the plushest most comfy bed and claimed it as her own!

She is enjoying the company of humans and other dogs alike at her foster home but is ready to be spoiled rotten at a forever home.

Roxie is still very spry and chipper however she would prefer a home without older children and with not to many stairs. In addition Roxie is crate trained and walks very well on a leash. Roxie has been selected as one of our Red Ribbon dogs, which means that if adopted by a senior citizen her adoption fee would be covered by Purina.

If you would like to meet Roxie and our other adoptable dogs please stop by the this weekend from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Thank you to the St. Louis Senior Dog Project for introducing us to Roxie.

Meet Doc

Doc is handsome 9-year-old Cockapoo who is calm and well behaved and easy to have in your home. He was surrendered to Senior Dogs for Seniors after his owner passed away. Doc is potty trained and prefers to sleep on the floor in the bedroom versus in a crate, although he is crate trained.

Doc does enjoy his daily walks and we do ask his new owners continue with his daily exercise as he is overweight and he enjoys his walks. Doc enjoys belly rubs, attention, tail wagging and giving kisses! Doc does not enjoy being picked up - quite possibly because of his weight. Doc does not show food aggression and shares food with other dogs and will gently eat treats from your hand. We would like Doc to go to a forever home with a fenced in backyard and suggest a male or older children to be in the house, as he bonds more with men and older children than with women.

Our mission is to place older dogs in the loving homes of older people in the St Louis area. We do not ask for an adoption donation for our special needs dogs. Doc is considered a special needs dog because of his age.

We are at the every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please visit our website at: www.seniordogs4seniors.com.

Thank you to the Senior Dogs 4 Seniors for introducing us to Doc.
