Senior Pups Search for Homes

Meet Ellie, an Australian Cattle Dog, and Breeze, a Shih-poo, at the Kirkwood Petco this weekend.

Meet Ellie

Ellie is a 6-year-old Australian Cattle Dog available for adoption through the St. Louis Senior Dog Project

Ellie is a beautiful dog with plenty of smiles and wags to share. Her previous owner had to go into a nursing home and was not allowed to bring her along, so Ellie found herself looking for a second chance and hopes to find a new home soon.

She is a good pooch that is friendly with everyone. She would be fine in a medium-activity household. Although she is older, as a cattle dog, she enjoys having activity now and then.

If you would like to meet Ellie or other adoptable dogs, stop by the Saturday or Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thank you to the St. Louis Senior Dog Project for introducing us to Ellie.

Meet Breeze

Breeze is a darling six-pound Shih-poo (part Shih Tzu, part Poodle) who is about 5-years-old.

She is a happy little girl and loves to run around the house with other dogs. She sleeps quietly all night in an x-pen (exercise pen) in the bedroom. She came from a breeding facility and is learning how to be a pet and will approach you if you are patient with her. She needs a forever home with someone who is willing to work with her. She also would benefit from another dog in the house.

Breeze is available for adoption through Senior Dogs 4 Seniors, a nonprofit on a mission to place older dogs in the loving homes of older people in the St Louis area. However Senior Dogs 4 Seniors takes in dogs of all ages and adopts to people of all ages. The organization conducts home visits and asks for a $200 adoption donation for adult dogs and $300 for puppies.

Senior Dogs 4 Seniors is at the every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit the Senior Dogs 4 Seniors website to learn more.

Thank you to Senior Dogs 4 Seniors for introducing us to Breeze.

If anyone is interested in an Aussie like Ellie, I can tell them first-hand that mine is probably the most affectionate dog that I have had. Active though. Seeing him leap is like watching ballet. Swift and graceful.
