Mini Dachshund, Yellow Lab Ready to Go Home

Meet Mackie and Huck at the Kirkwood Petco this weekend.

Meet Mackie

Mackie is a Miniature Dachshund between four and five years old available for adoption through the St. Louis Senior Dog Project.

Mackie was seized from a puppymill raid due to the neglectful conditions in which the dogs were kept. Regardless of her past, Mackie is ready to put one paw forward and move on to a place she can call home. She is not overly fearful and she is willing to bond and love humans.

Mackie is 8.5 pounds, and while she may be mini in size, she has the personality of a St. Bernard! She is very playful with other dogs but likes to show them at first that she is no wimp! She is a great affectionate girl that will make a good addition to a home.

Part of Mackie's veterinary care once she was in the care of St. Louis Senior Dog Project was getting a dental cleaning. She had to have five teeth removed but she is in good dental shape now. She also had to have a cyst removed from the top of her head. Fortunately it was not cancerous and she did great after her surgery.

Mackie is ready to go home. If you would like to meet her and our other senior and not-so-senior dogs available for adoption, stop by the Saturday or Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The St. Louis Senior Dog Project depends on donations to keep helping senior dogs. We currently are having a donation drive that includes an opportunity to enter a raffle for an autographed Albert Pujols baseball! You can check it out here.

Meet Huck

Huck is a yellow Labrador retriever around eight years old that weighs about 80 pounds. This is one very special dog who is available for adoption through Senior Dogs 4 Seniors.

Huck loves to play with balls or toys and can retrieve for hours. He listens very well and loves to go to a park and go swimming. A good belly rub is always great at anytime for him. He knows sit, down and shakes with both paws (very talented). Other dogs and cats are fine with him. He even knows to leave pet chickens alone.

Huck's only fault is that he is protective of his home. He needs to be in a quiet home with not a whole lot of activity. He barks when people come in the home but does stop and greets them later when he gets used to them. This very loyal guy will make someone a great buddy!

We are at the every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (except Oct. 29th). Please visit our website.
