Located in Kirkwood City Hall, the council chambers offers residents a spacious and inviting public forum. TheMore council comprises six at-large councilors and the mayor, and its history dates back to 1865. The chambers seats more than 100 people, and separate microphones for each council member ensure that meeting attendees don't miss any items of discussion.

The council meets at 7 pm on the first and third Thursday of each month. Meetings are open to the public, and public comment periods are scheduled at the beginning of each meeting. Residents can access agendas for council meetings and work sessions, as well as formal meeting minutes at the city council web page.

Located on the lower level of City Hall, the Kirkwood Public Works department is committed to preserving Kirkwood'sMore beauty and keeping the city running smoothly. The department houses the Building Commissioner's Office and the Engineering, Sanitation and Street divisions.

Kirkwood City Police Department

The Kirkwood Police Department consists of 58 commissioned police officers, 11 full-time civilians and 8 part-timeMore civilians. Kirkwood police divide the city into four districts, and a team of 24 officers constantly patrol each district. The department also is committed to educating residents about public safety through programs such as Neighborhood Watch and the Business Crime Watch. Residents can report an incident at the police department anytime day or night, and will be greeted by friendly and responsive staff. Those visiting the police department can park at City Hall, located next to the police station.
