Kirkwood Honors Legacy of Alvin Miller with Newly Named Track

On Wednesday afternoon, the Kirkwood High School Track Field was renamed the Alvin Miller Track Field in front of hundreds of parents and students during a dedication ceremony for the alumnus’ long athletic career.

Alvin Miller’s list of awards and records is long. Kirkwood High School’s track records in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 110 high and earning four varsity letters in basketball, three in football and two in track and field, are just some of them. But Miller, a 1983 KHS graduate, still has room for more. On Wednesday afternoon, the Kirkwood High School Track Field was renamed the Alvin Miller Track Field in front of hundreds of parents and students during a dedication ceremony for the alumnus’ long athletic career. Top Kirkwood Volunteers, Businesspersons to be Honored

The Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 66th annual dinner on Feb. 3.

The following information was supplied by Jim Wright, president of the Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce. The Kirkwood-Des Peres Area Chamber of Commerce will honor community leaders and business owners at the 66th Annual Installation and Awards Celebration on Friday, Feb. 3 at the Hilton St. Louis Frontenac. Citizen of the Year - Bill Burckhalter and the staff of the Kirkwood Train Station In 2003, Amtrak eliminated staffing the train station. It was the city's vision to have volunteers meet the trains daily, but needed someone to run the station as well as oversee the volunteer program. They met with Bill Burckhalter and hired him as the new station manager and volunteer coordinator, with the charge to find volunteers for the …
