Unite us together in encouragement, help u face the future with confidence; for united, faith grows. Words that made up a prayer used in Kirkwood 41 years ago were read again Thursday by Kirkwood Mayor Art McDonnell as the city council met five years to the day since Cookie Thornton, shot eight people at a council meeting, ultimately taking the lives of six people. Thornton was shot and killed by police. "We'll never forget this day, but we …

Kirkwood Mayoral Candidate Appeals to Residents Impacted by Mobil Expansion

Residents along Simmons Avenue received a campaign letter from Joseph Godi Saturday.

Kirkwood government's inability to address concerns of residents opposed to the expansion of the Mobil gas station at 1152 Manchester Road is one example of why Joseph Godi is seeking election for mayor of Kirkwood. The former Kirkwood city councilor of 17 years cited the development controversy in a campaign letter received by some residents on Simmons Avenue Saturday. After an outcry against the expansion that included a…

As we learned by attending many Kirkwood City Hall meetings, our city council say one thing, then do another. The current Mayor has alienated many residents over the Mobil Expansion, not to mentioned the taxpayer usage of monies to destroy bldgs downtown in favor of parking lots. The upcoming candidates forum should be interesting, as the mayor is considered vulnerable come election time.   more ›
