“Let It Be Christmas” Presented at Meramec Community College
United Methodist Church performs the Christmas story set to Beatles music.
In a lower level room at Kirkwood United Methodist Church, the 18 member cast of "Let It Be Christmas" assembled to rehearse their retelling of the story of Christmas. The story is familiar, but the way it's being told is not. Featuring a live rock band, the story has been re-imagined as a rock opera set to Beatles music, and will be performed at Meramec Community College today and Friday at 7 p.m. The cast features nine musicians, seven additional singers, one ballet dancer and one narrator. Although the relationship between Beatles music and the Christmas story may seem unlikely, co-producer Erika Whittaker is quick to put that notion to rest.
