Vacant Applebee's: What Might Move In?

Tell Patch readers what you'd like to see in this empty location formerly occupied by Applebee's Neighborhood Bar & Grill in Des Peres.

A former building occupied by Applebee's Neighborhood Bar & Grill at 13560 N. Barrett Parkway Dr., in Des Peres may become another restaurant in the future. Des Peres City Administrator Doug Harms confirmed with Patch that inquiries about the former Applebee's location recently were made by Culver's Restaurant representatives. Culver's menu ranges from signature butterburgers, other sandwiches and soups to salads and several frozen custard derivatives. "Culver's representatives asked about the zoning and processes," Harms said. But he did not know if Culver's owners would be interested in renovating the location or demolishing what is there and starting over. The first Culver’s was opened in 1984 in Sauk City, WI. New Raising Cane's Restaurant Process Starts

Des Peres city officials launch review process to explore possibility of establishing a new restaurant at 12215 Manchester Rd.

A new restaurant, called Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers, may be heading to Des Peres. The proposed restaurant's application process just launched with the city's Planning and Zoning commissioners, said Des Peres City Administrator Doug Harms. In the 12215 Manchester Rd. location, the restaurant would go into what Harms said is the former Deutschmann Florists & Greenhouses Inc. The location backs up to Des Peres Park. Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers is a fast-food restaurant chain founded in Baton Rouge, LA, by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey on August 26, 1996. The restaurant offers chicken fingers as its only main course. Harms said subcommittee members of the Planning and Zoning Commission next will meet with the developer for the restaurant…

This would undoubtedly double the traffic on this bucolic section of Manchester Rd. The idea of the wafting aromas of Big Macs being supplanted by chicken fingers is abhorrant.   more ›
