Long-Time Kirkwood Resident Herman Snorton Dies

Services are Monday for Snorton, 92, who was a long-time resident of Kirkwood.

(For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, University City resident Herman B. Snorton, 92, died. Snorton was a long-time resident of Kirkwood.  Snorton graduated from Lincoln Douglas High School in Indiana in 1937. In 1941, he worked at Seger Sunbeam War Plant to make bullets for the Navy. He married Elmeda Vinson (deceased) Dec. 16, 1945. There was one child (Alan) from this union. He then worked as a Janitor for Biggs who built car bodies for Chrysler. Chrysler bought Briggs and moved the plant to St. Louis and Herman and Elmeda moved to St. Louis. He held various positions at Chrysler including stockroom clerk, stock checker, caustic tank operator and maintenance painting. He retired …

Services Set For Stan Musial

The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame legend died Saturday at the age of 92.

A public visitation for Stan Musial, the St. Louis Cardinals legend who died at his Ladue home Saturday at the age of 92, will be held Thursday at Cathedral Basillica, MLB.com reported Monday. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at the same location Saturday starting at 11 a.m. KMOX reports that Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, the Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis, and Bishop Richard Stika will officiate the mass. A procession will then lead to Busch Stadium for a ceremony at the Musial Statue. Funeral Service Set for Kirkwood Teen Killed in Car Crash

Emily Nicole Ferguson, a 2011 graduate of Kirkwood High School and sophomore at Mizzou, died Friday in an accident on Interstate 70.

A funeral service is set for Emily Nicole Ferguson, 19, of Kirkwood. Ferguson died Friday while driving the wrong way on Interstate 70. She was a sophomore at the University of Missouri-Columbia and 2011 graduate of Kirkwood High School. Ferguson's funeral service is scheduled for Dec. 16, 7 p.m., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in University City, with a private interment, according to Bopp Chapel. The church is located at 7148 Forsyth Blvd. As of Monday, an obituary had not been posted to Legacy.com. The only information posted under the obituary section on Bopp Chapel's website is that Ferguson died suddenly Friday and was 19. Condolences can be left on Bopp Chapel's website. RELATED CONTENT:

34-Year-Old St. Louis Area FBI Agent Dies Unexpectedly

The FBI says Special Agent Jarrod M. Petrelli led “Operation Scorpion King” in dismantling a St. Louis area heroin trafficking ring.

According to the St. Louis division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Special Agent Jarrod M. Petrelli passed away unexpectedly while working on Dec. 6. He died just three days before his 35th birthday of natural causes, according to the FBI. Petrelli was reportedly assigned to the St. Louis area after joining the FBI in 2008. He had lived here with his family since 2009. The FBI stated in a news release that the special agent led “Operation Scorpion King” in dismantling a St. Louis area heroin trafficking ring.  Following is the news release issued by the FBI Monday afternoon. Funeral for Glendale Shooting Victims Set for Saturday

The funeral for Catherine Murch and her two children will be held at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, followed by the burials at St. Peter's Cemetery in Kirkwood.

Family, friends and the Mary Queen of Peace community are invited to attend the funeral and burial of Catherine Murch and her two children who died Monday in their Glendale home. The wake, however, is by invitation only. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, which is located at 4431 Lindell Blvd. Following the funeral, the burials will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery at 20 W. Monroe Ave. in Kirkwood. Authorities are still trying to piece together the details on on what happened at the Glendale home. Girlie Mae Carter, Beloved Kirkwood Resident, Dies at 89

A resident of Kirkwood since 1949, Girlie Mae Carter will be remembered for her kindness and religious devotion.

Sister Girlie Mae (Mitchell) Carter was born to the union of Henry and Rose Mitchell on July 19, 1922, in Columbus, MS. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. Sister Carter grew up in a Christian home and confessed Christ at an early age.   In 1949, Sister Carter entered into holy matrimony with Henry Clay Carter (deceased) and moved to Kirkwood. To this union three children were born: Timothy, Brian and Deborah. They united in fellowship with Olive Chapel A.M.E. Church where Sister Carter was a faithful member and servant for over 60 years. She was a Stewardess and also served in the Women’s Missionary Society, Senior Usher Board and Senior Choir. She was also active in the community and was …
