A Year Later, Grace Thrives Like Her Namesake Facebook Page

Update: We revisit "Grace's Glendale Bus Stop," the story of a young lady who has gotten national attention for how her family has helped her overcome Down Syndrome to work a job.

Another holiday has come and gone and with this one, came another visit by the Easter Bunny to Grace's Glendale Bus Stop—an informal landmark in the community that has drawn regional and national attention. For the uninitiated, Grace's Glendale Bus Stop is a Facebook page focusing on literally that: A bus stop dedicated to Grace Mehan, a Glendale resident with Down Syndrome who graduated from Kirkwood High School in May 2011. The bus stop and its Facebook page were part of Grace's parents' plans to help her learn how to navigate a bus route on her own to a job in Webster Groves. The Facebook page launched nearly a year ago, on April 9, and it's been adorned with photos of local celebrities, fans, friends and neighbors who have stopped by …

Local Man Wins $10,000 in Hooters Football Drawing

Todd Thrasher of Glendale says, "I am already planning a family vacation with part of my winnings.”

Todd Thrasher of Glendale won $10,000 in a scratch card giveaway promotion by Hooters that was part of the restaurant chain's "Wings on the Fly" promotion around post-season pro football. Thrasher received his prize during a check at the Hooters of Kiener Plaza in St. Louis on Feb. 8. Thrasher picked up a chicken sandwich and side salad, scratched off the card he received when he got back to the office and found that it had the $10,000 prize. According to Hooters' news release: "A scratch card was included with each Hooters to-go order through Feb. 3. Each card was a chance to instantly win $10,000 and other great prizes, such as free soft drinks, 10 percent off discount coupons for Hooters merchandise and free appetizers."

Mysterious Retaining Wall Damage, Check Investigation in Glendale

An arrest does not indicate a conviction.  Jan. 22:  At 2:16 p.m., police were contacted by a contractor whoe reported the possible forgery of a check from a resident in the 700 block of Edwin Avenue where he was performing repairs. Investigators said it was determined that there was no forgery, but the homeowner was holding the final payment until the repairs were complete. Jan. 23: At 10:57 a.m., police said the arrested a 29 year old St. Louis County man at the St. Louis County Justice Center and charged him with failure to appear (in court) and operating a motor vehicle with expired license plates. Police: Women Steal Gifts Meant for Trash Collectors

An arrest does not indicate a conviction.  Monday, Dec. 17 At 8:21 a.m., a resident of the 200 block of Parkland Avenue reported the theft of jewelry from her residence sometime between May 13, 2012 and June 17, 2012. Police are investigating. Tuesday, Dec. 18 At 8:20 a.m., an alert resident of the unit block of Gramercy Place reported two females stealing “gifts” intended for the residents’ refuse collectors from trash cans at the curb.  Residents left the “holiday gifts” taped to their trash cans for their trash collectors. Two-Story Santa Claus Sneaks Onto Glendale Lawns

A mysterious yard decoration that’s part of a pay-it-forward prank has neighbors scratching their heads and smiling.

A two-story tall inflatable yard decoration of Santa Claus is mysteriously sprouting in the yards of Glendale residents in what appears to be a pay-it-forward prank. The larger than life Santa Claus has been traveling from yard to yard since Dec. 1. No one knows where the decoration came from, but residents are gleefully following its instructions. Woman Charged in Theft From Regions Bank

Security officers reported cash missing from a deposit made at the Glendale branch.

A 28-year-old Hazelwood woman faces one count of felony stealing for her alleged involvement in a theft from the Glendale branch of Regions Bank. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued warrants on Nov. 19 charging Tara Lavender, 28, of the 7300 block of Normandie Court in Hazelwood, with one count of Stealing Over $500, according to Glendale police. The charge is related to a March 2 theft from the bank located at 9994 Manchester Road. On Aug. 28 the Corporate Security Department of Regions Bank reported cash missing from a deposit. Thieves Break Into Car, Then Use Stolen Set of Keys to Make Off With Man's Other Vehicle

Police suspect the thieves stole the man's car from his garage when he was reporting a theft from his other vehicle.

A Glendale man likely was the victim of two crimes committed by the same set of thieves last week when suspects broke into one of his vehicles and then used a set of keys and personal information to steal his other car. The victim was dining at a restaurant in St. Louis City last Thursday when his car was broken into between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., according to police. Knowing a set of keys and personal information was in the car, he called his neighbor to check on his 2012 Chevy Cruz parked in the garage of his home in the 900 block of Chelsea Avenue. The neighbor found that the car had been stolen and reported the incident to Glendale police, Sgt. Bob Catlett told Patch. Police suspect the thieves who stole items from the man's vehicle …

wow! i've been reading a lot of cases like this this morning.. i works as a techincian and just this early morning around 3am i had to attend a similar case.. the guys was in a restaurant and somebody stole his key but luckily the car was still out of the restaurant. he was able to book an urgent job with us and we got his car key replaced.
