Kirkwood Grad Lands Cover of Business Magazine

Mike Perry climbed his way from project manager to president of HBD Construction.

Michael Perry has come a long way since graduating Kirkwood High School in 1976. The Pioneer's work in the field of civil engineering has not only earned him the position of president of HBD Construction but also the September cover of Smart Business St. Louis. The business publication that profiles a different leader of industry each month talked to Perry about how he brings innovation to HBD, like a partnership with a company to work on a nuclear facility. While HBD works on projects far and wide, Perry and his team continue to see success in and around his hometown turf. Des Peres Dierbergs Aims to Make Mark in Region

Construction is coming along at the Des Peres Dierbergs as workers near completion on a host of features that will set the grocery store apart from other supermarkets in the St. Louis area.

An underground parking garage, cart escalators and a 5,000 square foot mezzanine are some of the features shoppers can expect to see when the Des Peres Dierbergs opens July 31. HBD Construction is the general contractor for the project and has built seven Dierbergs in the past. The firm's eighth Dierbergs is the most revolutionary to date among the chain’s 24-hour stores, according to HBD President Mike Perry. “To call it their flagship is probably an understatement,” Perry said in a statement. The 80,000 square foot supermarket will boast the largest Dierbergs produce department, a new Dierbergs Florist & Gifts, an extensive Whole Life Foods section and a larger seafood department. Library Renovations Capture Industry Attention

H.B.D. Construction won a major Keystone Award for its work on the Kirkwood Public Library.

H.B.D. Construction won a major Keystone Award at the recent Associated General Contractors Construction Gala, for the company's work on the Kirkwood Public Library (KPL).  The award was earned for excellence in the additions and renovations completed for KPL, specifically for the challenging structural elements discovered during the partial demolition of the more than 70 year-old building. The architecture firm for the project was Bond Wolfe Architects.
