A man faces a criminal charge after he punched another man “without warning,” according to Kirkwood Police. William P. Cox, 24, of the 12500 block of Big Bend Boulevard in Kirkwood, was charged Monday with second-degree assault. Kirkwood Police said Cox struck another man without warning, seriously injuring him on May 24. A warrant was issued Monday for Cox’ arrest. Bail was set at $50,000. A man who caused a collision by driving the wrong way on eastbound Manchester Road was charged Wednesday with second-degree assault in the crash. Des Peres Public Safety officers said that Thomas Lazear, 33, of the 9200 block of Leith Avenue in Woodson Terrace, was drunk when he drove the wrong way near 13384 Manchester Road in Des Peres and collided with another car. A blood test after the accident showed he had a 0.174 percent blood-alcohol content on May 28, police said. The driver in the other car suffered a broken collarbone in the collision.
