Schnucks Fraud Reports Slowing, But Still Coming in to Police

Kirkwood police received additional reports from residents who fell victim to fraud after their credit and debit cards were used following the Schnucks security breach.

An arrest does not indicate a conviction.  Between May 6 and May 12, Kirkwood Police said they received an additional three reports of identity-theft related to the Schnucks grocery chain credit and debit card security breach.  This takes the total reports made by residents to at least 84, according to police. As previously reported by Patch, Kirkwood police had already taken more than 80 reports from residents who fell victim to fraud from the breach. Police investigating Thefts of Wedding Ring, Mini Bike

Kirkwood police are investigating the recent thefts of a wedding ring and band, a computer and an Apollo mini bike that was stolen from a storage locker.

An arrest does not indicate a conviction.  April 29: At 3:21 p.m., police received a report of a larceny from a vehicle in the 100 block of West Monroe. The victim had placed her engagement ring and wedding band in the center console of her vehicle while she went to work. Later that evening she noticed the rings were missing. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle. May 1:  At 3:08 p.m., police responded to a business in the 100 block of East Jefferson for a thef. Rock Thrown at Car From Overpass During Rush Hour

Kirkwood police made an arrest after a woman reported a rock being thrown at her car from an overpass along Interstate 44.

An arrest does not indicate a conviction.  May 1:  At 5:42 p.m., police received a report of destruction of property to a vehicle near I-44 and Big Bend. The reporting party said someone threw a rock from an overpass striking her vehicle. Police responded to area and located the suspect responsible. He was arrested for property damage. Tools, Machinery Targeted by Thieves in Kirkwood

Kirkwood Drug Take-Back Nets 300 Pounds of Prescription Drugs

The Kirkwood Police department reports 300 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs were collected during the national drug take-back day.

The following information was provided by the Kirkwood Police Department in regard to last weekend's national prescription drug take-back event. April 27: Kirkwood police assisted the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) with their bi-annual medication disposal at the Kirkwood Police Department. This year Kirkwood Police Department turned over approximately 300 pounds of unused or expired medication for proper disposal to the DEA.

More Than 75 Kirkwood Residents Fall Victim to Schnucks Security Breach

Kirkwood police say even more reports are being filed by victims of fraud in connection to the Schnucks security breach.

An arrest does not indicate a conviction.  Between April 22 and April 28, Kirkwood Police took an additional eleven reports of identity-theft related to the Schnucks credit and debit card security breach.   This takes the total reports made by residents to more than 75, according to police. As previously reported by Patch, Kirkwood police had already taken 65 reports from residents who have fallen victim to fraud from the breach. Remember, any business where we use our credit cards runs the risk of their information being hacked and customers being inconvenienced. I hesitate to use a credit card on line but schools and banks have been hacked at the great inconvenience of customers. It seems to be a danger associated with our times.   more ›

Drug Bust Lands Two in Police Custody

One person was released on summons to appear in municipal court. Police Investigating Recent Thefts, Property Damage

Kirkwood police are investigating after thieves steal from a storage shed and numerous cars.

An arrest does not indicate a conviction.  April 18: At 5:48 p.m., officers responded to a report of a tree fallen on a home in the 600 block of East Essex Avenue. Several large limbs from the tree damaged the roof of the residence. No one was at home at the time the tree fell. April 18: At 7:11 p.m., a resident from the 900 block of South Geyer reported property damage to and theft from a storage shed. A push mower, weed eater, and cans of gasoline were stolen from the storage shed sometime during the previous overnight hours. The thief damaged the door frame and lock of the shed to gain entry. St. Louis Community College Apologizes for Handling of Attack on Meramec Campus

Reports said the St. Louis Community College-Meramec chancellor apologized for the school's communication involving a student attack last week.

St. Louis Community College-Meramec Chancellor Myrtle Dorsey is apologizing for the school's communication regarding a student attack last week, according to a report from FOX2. The report said administration at the Kirkwood campus admitted they should have alerted students better about the situation in a press conference Friday.
