Natural Childbirth Rally Urges Change in Delivery Methods

Nearly 100 people took part in a Labor Day rally to show support for increased natural childbirth methods.

Dozens of St. Louis-area women, along with their children and a few husbands joined forces with demonstrators in 110 cities around the country on Labor Day, urging those involved with child-bearing decisions to move away from artifically-induced, accelerated or surgical births. The St. Louis "Rally For Change" was held along New Ballas Road Monday morning near Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Hollie Silberhorn, a St. Peters mother of four children all delivered vaginally, was one of the St. Louis event's organizers. Labor Day: What's Open, What's Closed?

Here's a list of what's open and closed in Kirkwood, Des Peres, Glendale and Oakland on Monday, Sept. 3.

Labor Day, also recognized as the unofficial end of summer, is a federal holiday celebrated on the first Monday of September each year. The holiday is held in honor of the contributions and achievements of American workers. That means several government offices are closed on Monday, Sept. 3, including: Since it is a federal holiday, the post office, banks and schools, such as the Kirkwood School District, will also be closed Monday. The Kirkwood Community Center will be closed on Monday, but the aquatic center will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  The Lodge in Des Peres will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday. Labor Day Shuts Down St. Louis Road Projects

MoDOT work halts through Tuesday morning.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has suspended all construction in all work zones for the Labor Day holiday weekend. Some permanent work zones will remain in place, but work will not resume until Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.  Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:
