Kirkwood Woman Breaks Ground for Americans With Disabilities

Sierra Gregg, 21, was born with a rare birth defect that left her legally blind but that didn't stop her from revolutionizing how the U.S. stores critical documents.

By Brittney Smithers, Lighthouse for the Blind – Saint Louis Sierra Gregg of Kirkwood, a senior at Missouri’s Truman State University who is legally blind, proves that hard work, dedication and belief in a cause can overcome all limitations.  Sierra discovered in 2011 that almost all of archived documents about the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) on the ADA website for the Presidential Libraries & Museums at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., were not digitized. Dismayed, Sierra began a project to convert more than 50 archived ADA documents on the website into digital formats, which are more accessible to readers with limited vision.
