Crushed Red Opens Monday in Kirkwood

Take a peek inside the new restaurant opening in Kirkwood Station Plaza Monday.

Crushed Red is wrapping up preparations to open in Kirkwood's Station Plaza. The restaurant is the second location in St. Louis, next to the parent Crushed Red in Clayton. Powell Kalish with Crushed Red told Patch the restaurant would open Monday, serving up create-your-own salads, soups, pizzas and "shareables" (appetizers). Kalish said they will also serve beer and wine, and host happy hours. Take a look at Crushed Red's menu here. Des Peres Baskin Robbins Plans to Open Tuesday

The ice cream shop will open near Schnucks at Manchester and North Ballas Road.

Baskin Robbins and all its 31-plus flavors are coming to Des Peres. Patch reader Lisa Helein attended a friends and family night at the new store last weekend and shared with Patch that the store would be opening Tuesday at 1078 North Ballas Road, with a grand opening planned for June. The restaurant's petition for a conditional use permit was heard at a public hearing at the Des Peres Board of Aldermen meeting Monday evening. The new Baskin Robbins is located in a shopping plaza in front of Schnucks at Manchester and North Ballas roads.  Check in with Patch for updates to this story. J Greene's Pub Opens Today in Warson Woods

The pub is making the former Big Bear Grill location home.

J Greene's Pub, owned by Jason and Juliet Greene of the Webster Groves and Kirkwood area, is set to open Monday. Jason told Patch the new restaurant at the former Big Bear Grill location will open after an opening inspection Monday morning, and stay open till 1 a.m. As Patch previously reported, Jason and Juliet described the restaurant as a family-friendly pub with plenty of variety on the menu. Crushed Red Planning to Open Mid-May in Kirkwood

The new restaurant is moving in at Station Plaza at the former Pazzo's Pizzeria location.

If you've walked around Kirkwood's Station Plaza lately, the buzzing of construction emitting from the corner next to Pickleman's may have caught your attention. Patch found out in February that Crushed Red, an "urban bake and chop shop" according to its website, is opening a second location in Kirkwood at the former Pazzo's Pizzeria space. Crushed Red currently has a restaurant in Clayton. Check out the menu here. A Kirkwood High grad is teaming up with her husband, a graduate of Webster Groves High, on the business venture.

J Greene's Pub is about finished moving in to the former Big Bear Grill location at 10017 Manchester Road in Warson Woods. Owners Jason and Juliet Greene, both from the Webster Groves and Kirkwood area, are getting ready to put the finishing touches on the menu and the look of the pub. Billy G's Restaurant Coming Soon to Kirkwood

The new restaurant is hosting a job fair this weekend at their location on Argonne.

The same people who brought you Bill Gianino's and Frankie G's in Oakville, Joey B's on the Hill and several other St. Louis-area restaurants are about to open another in Kirkwood, according to a press release on STL Today. Billy G's will be located at 131 West Argonne Drive in Downtown Kirkwood with a goal of opening early this summer, the release said. An on-site job fair for more than 100 positions at the restaurant is slated for Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 from 2 to 6 p.m. What do you think? Have you been to any of the Gianino's Group restaurants? J Greene's Pub Will Play Up Kirkwood/Webster Rivalry

The owners graduated from Kirkwood and Webster Groves high schools and are opening a new pub in Warson Woods.

Out here, the big question is, "Where did you go to high school?" For Juliet and Jason Greene, you could almost say they were starcrossed lovers who met at McGurk's Irish Pub as a chef and general manager, got married and made plans for their own pub that are coming to fruition at the former Big Bear Grill location in Warson Woods. Oh, and Juliet went to Kirkwood High, and Jason went to Webster Groves High School. The Kirkwood/Webster rivalry is a part of St. Louis history, with bragging rights fought for at Turkey Day football games spanning 90 years.
