North Glendale Is Winner in Canned Food Drive With Bristol Elementary

A friendly competition between the elementary schools netted thousands of donations to KirkCare, a food pantry for residents of the Kirkwood School District.

Students at North Glendale Elementary in the Kirkwood School District and Bristol Elementary in the Webster Groves School District just completed their fifth annual canned food drive competition.  North Glendale won this year’s competition by collecting and donating 2,318 items, which will be donated to KirkCare, a food pantry for residents of the Kirkwood School District. The friendly competition began five years ago and together the schools have collected over 22,000 food items. Information provided by Kirkwood School District.

Major Construction at North Glendale Wraps Up With Celebration

Construction projects like a new gymnasium, cafeteria and additional classrooms allow North Glendale kindergarten students to attend their home school for the first time in over 15 years.

POLICE: Alarm Thwarts Thefts at North Glendale Elementary

Three juveniles and one adult were arrested on burglary and stealing charges during the weekend.

Three juveniles and one adult were arrested on burglary and stealing charges after setting off a burglar alarm at North Glendale Elementary School. At 8:32 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the alarm. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the four males, three 17 year olds and one 21 year old, inside the building. "They found an unlocked exterior door and entered the building," Glendale Police Sgt. Bob Catlett said. "They attempted to steal items from within the building, but thought better when confronted by police." The four suspects were arrested for Burglary in the Second Degree and Attempted Stealing Under $500. Formal charges are pending by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
