Local Harvest hopes to open in Kirkwood in mid-October, according to co-owner Patrick Horine. Kirkwood Patch received questions from readers via our website and Facebook page about the status of the grocery store and café that will be housed in the 6,000 square feet of retail space formerly occupied by McDonnell's Market at 12309 Old Big Bend Road. HotPot Smoothie Shop plans to open in Kirkwood at the end of the month, but not before a unique addition to the menu: you.
HotPot Smoothie Shop soon will open its doors in Kirkwood. The menu will feature vegan and vegetarian cuisine, smoothies, and, your name? That's right. On Wednesday, HotPot put out a call on its Facebook page for smoothie recipes with the winning recipe being placed on the organic cafe's menu. Plus, the menu item might be named after the person who submitted the concoction. The Kirkwood City Council last week approved a special use exception permit for a new restaurant in Kirkwood, whose owner says will give residents a “healthier alternative to what’s around.” Gregory Owens, of Des Peres, said he will open HotPot Smoothie Shop, a cafe that will offer organic, vegan and vegetarian options, sometime in May.
