1.) With the increased traffic on the Daniel Boone Bridge due to lane closures on the Blanchette, why did they decide to do blasting now? It doesn't make sense to have closures on one of the alternate routes. Drivers in the Lake St. Louis/Wentzville area do not have easy access to the Page extension. 2.) How much extra time should we plan in our commutes due to blasting?   more ›

That's a great idea. And while we're at it, let's ticket trash trucks, highway department vehicles, utility trucks, school buses and any other vehicle that doesn't drive close to the maximum speed. Sorry, Patrick, the only place there is a minimum speed is on interstate highways. Bicycles are legitimate users of the road, and apologies to you on behalf of all cyclists for the extra 15 seconds …   more ›

I assume you are referring to 141 in Valley Park just north of I-44. That is the only spot where 141 crosses the Meramec River. We do have future plans to rebuild the 141 and I-44 interchange so it can be considered with those designs.   more ›

Would MoDOT PLEASE considfer adding a larger shoulder or sidewalk from the entrance of the Marisol subdivision (located on W) to the intersection of W and 109. It would be less than a 1/2 mile stretch. My concern is for the residents of Marisol who jog or ride a bike from the subdivison into the town of Eureka where they are able to access a trail. W is such a dangerous road to begin with, plus …   more ›

City Fills Potholes but Concern Remains (Map)

The City of Kirkwood filled potholes on North Clay Avenue after a report on our interactive map.

The City of Kirkwood has filled potholes on North Clay Avenue near Jewel Avenue, according to a reader who reported the problem on our SeeClickFix map. But, he is concerned that the problem will resurface. "They did fill the potholes, but they've done this the past few years and they always come back worse than before within a few months," Will Bramlett says on SeeClickFix. The City of Kirkwood thanked Patch for the feedback on the potholes and acknowledged that the stretch of Clay Avenue near Jewel Avenue is a concern. "We know Clay Avenue near Jewel is a mess and the entire street needs replacing," Street Department Director Tony Bonastia said. Kirkwood Patch received another report of potholes on Doorack Lane. Bonastia said the city …

Sorry to learn about the pothole situation but we Kirkwoodians have downtown buildings to purchase with our limited funds, pay to tear them down, and purchase contracting services to build more downtown parking to add to Kirkwood's poorly maintained inventory of public parking lots.   more ›

Letter to the Editor

OPINION: MoDOT Not Doing Enough to Address Potholes

The following is a letter to the editor from resident Julius Krisanic about MoDOT's plan to fix potholes throughout St. Louis.

Sorry, MoDOT is not going far enough. (Read: MoDOT Reveals More on Its Plan to Attack Potholes) In Germany, they repair potholes permanently and seal them properly in 24 hours, and they reimburse drivers for damage to your auto including front end alignment, tire replacement, towing, etc. The thought process is that as citizens we pay taxes to maintain roads, and should not pay for repairs that are not our problem. The current system is like being taxed twice. We already pay license tax, fuel tax, sales tax, and I do not know what else. Then, we get hit by repair bills and aggravation for a problem that we already paid for. The potholes in Germany are also replaced by professional maintenance workers that take pride in what they do in lieu…
