I've done a lot of eating around for pizza in Glendale, and I agree some of the best in the area is represented here. I like to stay neutral though, so I don't pick a favorite.   more ›

Fundraiser Helps Dogs Stay Warm, Healthy

A fundraising campaign for local foster dogs culminates Saturday in Webster Groves with fun-filled activities.

Winter is a season when dogs particularly need a helping hand, especially those available for adoption through Senior Dogs 4 Seniors. "We get a lot of dogs in in the winter time," said Joann Joann Kuehl, event coordinator for Senior Dogs 4 Seniors. "Vet bills are often higher than what we're charging as a donation fee, so donations are really important for us." In order to help foster dogs, the St. Louis nonprofit has been holding its "Because Dogs Get Cold Too" campaign that culminates Saturday with a fundraiser and supply drive and movie night at Clean Cut Creations in Webster Groves. Volunteers have been busy making blankets for dogs that can be purchased by residents. Money raised from sales goes toward veterinary bills. Some residents…

Fashion Friday

Fashion Friday: Leggings and Tights for Fall

Lillians in Kirkwood and Rung in Rock Hill have great looks to keep you warm and fashionable.

Leggings, tights and jeggings have become essential pieces for fall and winter, for practical and fashionable reasons. Of course they help keep your legs warm during the colder months, but they also can serve as a fashionable compliment to a dress, tunic, sweater or skirt. "They're just so comfortable," Erica Dunk, a sales associate at Rung in Rock Hill, said of leggings. "You can put them with anything for more of a high-fashion look." At Rung, you can go for a layered look by wearing a simple pair of black leggings with some black knee-high riding boots (a huge trend for fall), some layered shirts and a statement necklace. For the layered shirts, try a basic solid-colored shirt underneath and a patterned or striped shirt on top. Another …

Two Is Better Than One: Kirkwood and Webster Groves Will Each Have Their Own Patch

Starting Aug. 3, Kirkwood-Webster Groves Patch will split to become Kirkwood Patch and Webster Groves Patch.

On Aug. 3, Kirkwood-Webster Groves Patch will split to become Kirkwood Patch and Webster Groves Patch. Kirkwood Patch will also serve Des Peres, Glendale and Oakland, while Webster Groves Patch will add Rock Hill and Warson Woods to its coverage area. Why? First, Kirkwood and Webster Groves are unique, dynamic communities and big newsmakers. With devoted school districts and police and fire services, thriving business districts and nationally recognized colleges, each community deserves its own Patch to reflect the people, places and issues that give these cities their unique identities. Second, residents of Des Peres, Oakland, Glendale, Rock Hill and Warson Woods closely identify with Kirkwood and Webster Groves, and we feel it would be a…

Three-quarters of Warsion Woods is in the Webster Groves School District. Only the section west of Woodlawn is located in the Kirkwood School District. Keeping cities in their primary school districts makes sense. Most of Warson Woods is in WGSD and most, but not all of Glendale is in the KSD.   more ›

Walgreens Decision Means Some Customers Must Fill Prescriptions Elsewhere

Express Scripts customers who get their medications at the Walgreens have until Jan. 1 to choose a new drug store.

The Express Scripts website press room features a news release expressing shock about the decision by Walgreen’s to stop filling prescriptions for the pharmacy provider network based in North St. Louis County. You will find a news release on the matter on the Walgreens website, too.  This quote from a Walgreens press release points to a breakdown where many contract negotiations often come to an impasse: money. “Walgreens is committed to providing quality, convenient and cost-effective pharmacy services to our patients, but we cannot continue to deliver these services under the terms and rates Express Scripts offered. As the largest retail provider in their pharmacy network, we were surprised by Express Scripts’ ultimate stance during our …
