Kirkwood police made five arrests in one week in connection to thefts from local businesses along South Kirkwood Road.
The following information was provided by the Kirkwood Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. March 25 - March 31: Kirkwood Police arrested five adults for shoplifting from area businesses during the week. Authorities said the incidents took place at retain stores in the 1000 and 1200 blocks of South Kirkwood Road. In addition, police said two who were arrested were found in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of their arrest. Both were charged accordingly, police stated. A man has been charged with his sixth stealing offense after being accused of shoplifting in Kirkwood. Calvin S. Williams, 32, of the 7300 block of Tulane Avenue in University City, was charged Wednesday with stealing as a third offense, a class D felony. Kirkwood Police said Williams tried to return shoes for a cash refund that he had not purchased at about 4:36 p.m. Aug. 9 at Sports Authority, 1205 South Kirkwood Road. Security personnel saw him remove a security sensor from a pair of Asics athletic shoes and brought the shoes for a refund. Saturday, Feb. 16: At 6:48 p.m., one adult was arrested for shoplifting from a business in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. Police stated the person was charged with stealing third offense, which is a felony, due to having at least two prior theft-related convictions. Monday, Feb. 11: At 2:55 p.m., police arrested one person for shoplifting from a business in the 400 block of North Kirkwood Road. The case was referred to municipal court, police stated. Police responded to five incidents at the same Kirkwood business.
The following information was provided by the Kirkwood Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. Kirkwood Police responded to five separate incidents related to shoplifting from Jan. 7-13 which resulted in the arrests of five adults. All of the incidents occurred at the same retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. According to police, one of the five adults arrested had drug paraphernalia in her possession. Another was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics. The incidents follow three shoplifting arrests made at a retail store in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road from Dec. 31 through Jan. 6. Police arrest several suspects for stealing from Kirkwood businesses.
The Kirkwood Police Department responded to a number of reports of shoplifting from Aug. 3-9. The following information was provided by the Kirkwood Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. On Monday, Sept. 3, officers were dispatched to a retail business in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for a report of shoplifters. Four adults were observed by store employees stealing merchandise from the store. The four, two from California, one from Washington, and one from Canada, were arrested. The Division of Family Services was contacted after a shoplifting suspect left his 6 year old in a car during last week's heat wave. He had a 10 month old with him during the reported theft.
A shoplifting attempt during last week's heat wave ended in a call to the Division of Family Services, according to Kirkwood police. On July 4, officers responded to the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Investigation by the officer revealed that the suspect had a 10-month-old child with him during the theft and had left his 6-year-old child alone in a vehicle while he was inside the store. The suspect was issued a summons for stealing and the Division of Family Services was notified regarding the children.
