$2.4 Million Kirkwood High Stadium Project Considered by School Board

Proposed renovations would make the Kirkwood High School stadium more accessible for people with physical disabilities.

Safety and limited access for those with disabilities are at the heart of a proposed $2.4 million renovation project that includes an overhaul of the Kirkwood High School stadium bleachers. Members of the Kirkwood School Board will vote tonight on the project that would make lower level bleachers ADA accessible and provide ADA assistant seating. The project, estimated to cost between $2.4-2.8 million, also would add restrooms, concessions and a new press box to the stadium. Money for the Project Money for the project would come from the Kirkwood School District's maintenance fund which is expected to have a reserve of $2,980,000 on June 30, 2013. Maintenance revenue for 2013-2014 is predicted to be $2,450,000. The dim Meramec pool where the KHS team swims now is 44 years old. The swim schedule is often interrupted without notice for pool maintenance.
