Heroin Education National Award Bestowed on St. Louis County Police Officers

St. Louis County Police Department’s Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force representatives will receive the 2012 “Outstanding Community Prevention Effort Award” in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

The heroin-deterrent “Not-Even-Once” campaign initiated in the St. Louis metropolitan area by St. Louis County Police Department officers is credited for a 30 percent drop in deaths from the drug since the effort was launched. The campaign's results also were noticed on a larger scale, resulting in the department just receiving a national award in heroin education. The award will be presented Thursday by President Barack Obama’s drug czar, director Gil Kerlikowske of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, in Washington, D.C. The award is given to the task force that exhibits outstanding results in community support, assistance and education in using the cooperative spirit and tenets of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) …

Police Capture Dangerous Burglary Suspect, KSDK Reports

A citizen who saw Charles "Brad" Holzhauer's photo in the media alerted police to the suspect's whereabouts.

Police Seek Public's Help in Locating Dangerous Suspect

Charles "Brad" Holzhauer fled from Kirkwood police Thursday and crashed a stolen car into a Webster Groves home. He is wanted for several first-degree burglaries and auto thefts.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating 41-year-old Charles "Brad" Holzhauer, a parole absconder who has violent tendancies. This is the second time in less than two weeks police have requested assistance. Shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, Kirkwood police spotted Holzhauer driving a stolen vehicle from St. Louis County. He led officers on a chase and eventually crashed the car into the garage of a Webster Groves house. Officers chased him on foot, but he escaped. Holzhauer is a suspect in five first-degree burglaries that have occured over the last month in Kirkwood, St. Louis County and Glendale. Local Police Will Turn Up the HEAT on I-44 This Weekend

Kirkwood and Webster Groves police will be cracking down on speeding and unbuckled and impaired drivers beginning Saturday.

The Kirkwood and Webster Groves police departments will join forces this weekend to put the HEAT on drivers along Interstate 44. In particular, officers will be on the lookout for drivers who are impaired, speeding or not wearing a seatbelt. The 24-hour crackdown begins on Saturday at 6 a.m. It's part of the three-month "HEAT Is On" campaign that began June 21. As part of the effort, law enforcement agencies across Missouri have used HEAT (High Enforcement Action Teams) on state roads to make travel safer. Residents Voice Concerns Over Park Shooting

Residents and the Webster Groves City Council discuss public safety following an incident of gunfire at Ivory Crockett Park.

Webster Groves residents Virginia Douglas and Rayneese Jones arrived at Tuesday's meeting of the Webster Groves City Council to discuss one thing—public safety. Douglas and Jones addressed the council separately to ask councilors to take action in Ivory Crockett Park at Bell and Almentor Avenues. On July 6, police arrived at the 800 block of Bell Avenue in response to reports of gunfire. Upon investigation, police found spent shell casings, but no injuries were reported. Read previous story. The incident involved 20-25 males, according to witnesses. Police have struggled to make substantial gains in the investigation, although it is still active. Douglas, who is a 50-year resident of Webster, said the quality of the park is at it's worse …
