A Des Peres woman endured a grueling 30 days of radiation treatment for cancer in her throat, so riding a bike for 25 miles seems pretty easy. One year ago, Erin Anderson was finishing up treatment for squamous cell carcinoma. Now she is part of a bicycling team that is among the top fundraisers for next weekend’s Pedal the Cause. Pedal the Cause is a communitywide cycling challenge launched last year to raise money for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. “Team Erin” has raised more than $14,300 so far—overall, the event has raised more than $980,000, and the donations are still coming in. “It’s amazing how generous people are.
