The Pi truck was one of the first food trucks in the St. Louis area.
Pi Restaurants will discontinue regular operations for its food truck service in the St. Louiis area on Tuesday, July 31, according to the Pi Pizza web site. Pi has locations in the Delmar Loop, Kirkwood, the Central West End, Chesterfield and a new location in the Merchantile Exchange in downtown St. Louis. The statement on Pi's web site reads as follows: July 31st, 2012 will be the last day of regular operations for both our St. Louis and Washington, DC trucks. We are thrilled to have led the way in STL food truck scene, scouting out the most popular spots for trucks in St. Louis City. A Kirkwood woman is facing a count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter in connection with a crash that killed a bicyclist on the Delmar Loop earlier this year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday. Emily C. Hagan, 30, of the 400 block of North Clay Avenue, was charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated, according to court documents. The incident occurred Feb. 3 in the 7500 block of Delmar Blvd at about 11:20 p.m. The victim, Samuel Scott, 19, of the 7400 block of Delmar, was taken by ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and died the next afternoon, the Post reports. The people have spoken (or, at least, some of the people): Cyrano's Cafe & Wine Bar is the most romantic place to go in Mid-County for a Valentine's Day dinner. Our Valentine's Day poll garnered 32 votes. Readers submitted romantic recommendations via our comments section, Facebook and Twitter. There were seven restaurants in Mid-County that garnered votes—Acero Ristorante, Eclipse Restaurant, Cyrano's, Cafe Provencal, Mosaic-Des Peres, One 19 North and Citizen Kane's Steakhouse. We had a great debut to our first Mid-County Food Fight. Here are your other top picks.
The people have spoken (or, at least, some of the people): twinOak Wood Fired Fare has the best pizza in Mid-County. TwinOak, located at 1201 Strassner Dr. in Brentwood, received 27 percent of the vote in our first Food Fight poll. Pi Pizzeria, located in Kirkwood and near University City, and Dewey's Pizza, located in Kirkwood, University City and Webster Groves, tied for second place with 15 percent each. La Pizza in University City came in fourth place with 10 percent.
