Thieves Target Cars in Kirkwood

Plus, two people had their cell phones stolen while playing a game of basketball.

The following information was provided by the Kirkwood Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. 

May 7:

At 8:14 a.m., police responded to a residence on Heatherbrook for a theft from vehicles. A wallet, GPS, and sunglasses were stolen sometime overnight from two cars parked in the driveway. There were no signs of forced entry to the cars.

At 5:24 p.m., police received a delayed larceny report that occurred in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road. The victim stated she left her wallet behind on a counter at the business while shopping. Upon returning to the business the victim discovered her wallet was turned in to store employees with everything intact except $180.   

May 8: 

At 7:05 p.m., police took two theft reports from vehicles from residents on Provincial Court. One victim reported a car stereo stolen and the other reported a laptop case stolen. The incidents occurred sometime during the previous night.

May 8: 

At 8:30 p.m., police responded to Heatherbrook for a delayed theft report from a vehicle. The victim stated clothing and household items were taken from the vehicle sometime within the last three days.

May 10: 

At 3:52 p.m., police handled two reports of cell phone thefts from the 500 block of South Clay. Both victims stated they were playing basketball and placed their cell phones down on the ground. Upon returning, the phones were missing.

May 11:

At 8:53 a.m., police received a report of trespassing on railroad property. Two people were located on property in the area of Leffingwell and the Union Pacific Railroad Tracks. Both were summoned to appear in municipal court for trespassing.

May 11: 

At 2:15 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of West Woodbine for a report of a larceny of a bicycle. A red and white mountain bike with “Honda” written on the side was stolen overnight from the side of the home.

May 6 - May 12:

Kirkwood Police arrested two adults for shoplifting merchandise from area businesses during the week. The thefts took place at businesses in the 1100 and 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.
