A new Bible study centered on what the Bible says and means when it comes to the subjects of sex and homosexuality. Discussions will be led by Senior Pastor Jeff Moore and are open to members of the community. Topics include:
Week 1: In the beginning: Sexuality and our created nature. Week 2: The Holiness Codes: sex, food, and cleanliness in ancient Israel. Week 3: Sex and respect: What happened at Sodom? Week 4: Marriage in the Old and New Testaments. Week 5: Jesus and Sexuality. Week 6 & 7: What did Paul write about same sex relationships? Week 8: Does Jude say anything about homoerotic acts? Week 9: How careless Biblical interpretation harms communities. Week 10: Constructing an ethic of grace.
All sessions will look at biblical texts, the Hebrew and Greek, histories of translation and interpretation, and present opportunities for questions and discussion. Video excerpts will be used to augment the discussion. Childcare provided.
